So I haven't quite figured out how to place links, so I put a list of everything that I used at the bottom of the blog.
I'm a fan of using a lot of pictures on one page. To help with that, I make a lot of use out of the collage function that you can find on Walgreens.com. Walmart and CVS both have similar photo services. The horizontal pictures that I used were two pictures put on a vertical 5x7 collage print. You could also put 4 horizontal pictures on a vertical 8x10 collage print and get basically the same size. My vertical pictures were also printed using the collage prints. I printed 2 vertical pictures on a 4x6 horizontal picture.
My background paper that I used was a green flowery pattern paper. It reminded me of a garden and that is why I used it. Its from the Ever After line from Cosmo Cricket. The paper was called Something Special. I matted the horizontal pictures with a brown flower patterned paper also from the Ever After line from Cosmo Cricket. The paper was called Something New. I matted the vertical pictures with a buttery yellow sheet of cardstock. I think I used the Chiffon colored sheet from Bazzill Basics.
I have found this nifty little tool called the Magic Matter Disk Set that makes matting so much quicker. Its basically these little metal disks that come in different sizes and they have a little hole in the middle. All you do is stick a pen or a pencil in the hole and you put the disk next to the photo and you trace along the photo or whatever it is that you want a matte for and you have an instant matte. It has been a life and time saver for me. For this particular layout, I needed really small mattes cause I had so much going on and if they were any bigger, they would have touched. I used the 1/8th inch of a disk on the top and on one side of the photos and it gave me a really small matte.
For my title, which is what I was super-excited about the way it turned out, I used the chiffon cardstock. I cut a strip of paper 10 and 1/2 inches wide and 1 and 1/4 inch tall. I punched the corners with a scalloped edge punch from Fiskars. I layered the brown Something New on top of the cardstock that is 9 and 3/4 inches wide and a little less than inch tall. I used the same punch for the edges. I created the title with the Gypsy Font on my Cricut. I used the welding function on the Gypsy to connect all of the letters in the title. (As far as I know, the Gypsy Font only only comes with the Gypsy.)
I attached the words with my Xyron sticker maker, which I absolutely adore. Well, I didn't center my letters right, and I kind of screwed up the upper right-handed corner of the brown paper with the punch. So I knew that I wanted to use flowers on the title, but since I didn't center the title, a flower on each side just didn't look right at all and I really liked the way the two overlapping on the left looked. The flowers that I used were made by Prima, but I bought them a really long time ago from the dollar section at Target and I can't find them on-line, but you can get little flowers anywhere. I put a greenish button in the center of the flowers. I got the buttons at my local scrapbooking store. They are made by Moxxie, but I can't find them on-line either. So now I thought the flowers weighed the title down on that one side too much, so I added a yellowish button that matched my cardstock to the other side to kind of even it out. And then I was done and I was quite pleased with myself.
Here are the two pages together...
I used all of the same papers on the second page. The three pictures of us on the trees are 4x6 photos. I used the collage option on Walgreens.com for the other two pictures. I put the other two horizontal pictures on a vertical 5x7 photo. What I love about this look is that the smaller photos made the 4x6s look a lot bigger. I made the spaces that I used for the stamping and the journaling the same size as the vertical pictures that were used on page one. I used the same scallop punch that I used before. I used one of the fleur de lis stamps from TPC Studio with the Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. And I used a brown ink pen for the journaling. I hope that you guys like it. I like it quite alot.
